Registration

An in-person meeting for the Tuwe Pamoja project will be held from 4-7 August 2025 in Cape Town, South Africa.

The meeting will be hosted by the African Climate & Development Initiative (ACDI) at the Hasso Plattner d-school Afrika at the University of Cape Town.

Those who are planning to attend this meeting are asked to please complete this form to ensure a timely and well-organised event.

Venue

Hasso Plattner d-school Afrika

The meeting venue is the Hasso Plattner d-school Afrika located on the University of Cape Town’s Middle Campus, in Rondebosch, Cape Town.

Also known as the d-school, the venue is a four-storey building on the UCT campus that was awarded a 6-star Green Star rating by the Green Building Council of South Africa (GBCSA).

This is the highest rating possible and signifies "World Leadership" in sustainability, and was awarded for both design and construction.

Field trip

The Community Organisation Resource Centre (CORC) will be hosting a field trip on Day 2 of the Tuwe meeting (Tuesday 5 August).

CORC is a non-profit organisation based in Cape Town that supports communities in informal settlements, primarily through social facilitation and technical support. They work to improve the built environment of these settlements and facilitates collaboration between communities, civil society, and local government.

CORC is affiliated with Shack Dwellers International (SDI), a global network of community-based organisations.

Accommodation

All Africa House

Rooms have been pre-booked at the All Africa House for Tuwe Pamoja project partners from outside of Cape Town.

The All Africa House is located on UCT’s Middle Campus, within walking distance to the meeting venue. Find it on Google Maps here.

The rooms booked are Studio Rooms which are double or single twin bed, en-suite bathroom with access to an equipped communal kitchen.  Breakfast is provided and all rooms have a flat-screen TV, fridge, microwave and kettle. 

Accommodation is booked from Sunday 3 August to Friday 8 August, unless your flight bookings necessitate extensions. 

Alternative accommodation options 

For those who wish to extend their stay in Cape Town, there are plenty of accommodation options available for a range of budgets.  The best suggestion is to look on Booking.com for availability – there are many recommended areas including Sea Point, Green Point and Gardens. 

Things to do in Cape Town

Cape Town has many interesting places to visit – here are a few suggestions for attractions to experience while you are here:

  • Table Mountain – most iconic landmark in the city.  There is a cable car that operates daily to the top (weather dependent). https://www.tablemountain.net/ 

  • Cape Point – National park at the southern point of the Cape Peninsula. 

  • Cape Penguin Colony, Boulders Beach – national park where one can see penguins. 

  • V&A Waterfront – commercial space with high end shops, restaurants and entertainment.  The Two Oceans Aquarium is located here. 

  • District Six Museum – An internationally engaged museum of innovation working with the memories of District Six and other communities affected by forced removals, and contributing to the cultural reconstruction and restitution of post-apartheid Cape Town. 

  • Constantia Wine farms – Steenberg, Constantia Uitsig, Groot Constantia are good areas to explore locally-grown wine.
